Thanksgiving Outfit of the Day

Happy Thanksgiving! After stuffing my face with turkey and latkas (being the second night of Hanukkah too) I am finally resting in my bed. I spent most of the day watching movies with my family, doing the cross word puzzle in the newspaper, and browsing the Black Friday deals. We kept it pretty small for the dinner gather at my house with my parents, brother and grandma.

(lol at my phone case in the back....)
I decided to keep my outfit simple and classic with jeans, a white oxford, boots, and a tweed jacket.

I recently purchased this blazer from Marshall's, the color is mostly brown with some navy detailing and zippered pockets. I love this piece because it is great for dressing up a casual outfit.

The inside lining is satin with an adorable pattern of little British landmarks, and British guards. I may have fallen in love with it for the inside alone. The brand on the inside is Telluride Clothing, I tried to look this up online but could not find any leads on where to buy this brand!

Oxford: American Eagle
Boots: Clarks

I paired this outfit with a simple pearl necklace to dress up the look.

Necklace: Thrifted

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and/or Hanukkah! I really have been so grateful for all of the opportunities over this past year, and all the amazing people I have met along the way. Not everything has been perfect, but I truly believe that certain things happen for a reason. Have a great night, and look forward to Black Friday!

Always,

2013 Holiday Wishlist & Gift Giving Guide

I can't believe that the holidays are just around the corner! Hanukkah already starts this week, and it is less than a month until Christmas. These are the items that I would love for the holidays, and would make great gifts for your family or friends.

1.

I love the girly color as well as bow accent on this wallet. The wrap around zipper makes it functional with a change pocket inside. It is perfect for the holidays, but also versatile for the year.

2.

I absolutely love this movie, so I think it is fair I get it on DVD. If you have not seen it yet, I highly suggest it. I kind of am in love with Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, so I might be biased in saying that this is the best gift you could possibly grace upon anyone. But in seriousness, DVDs make great presents, I know I love nothing more than snuggling up to a great movie.

3.

Target makes some great quality clothing, and I absolutely love the black and white chevron pattern of this pullover sweater. As you may know (from previous posts) I love black and white, and this sweater is no exception.

4.

I have recently been getting into running, and a great pair of shoes is the perfect motivation to continue with a fitness goal (right?) But I have actually been wearing the same pair of athletic shoes for 6 years, and I think it is time for an update. A new pair of shoes make a great gift for anyone getting in shape, or that just love shoes.

5.

I love how cozy this windproof fleece vest is, and how it is specifically contoured for women. This vest is not only stylish over flannels and sweaters, but is incredibly warm and practical for the winter.

6.

I have heard amazing things about how practical this bag is through many different reviews, so I finally am hoping Santa can get his hands on one. They come in a variety of colors to suit anyones taste, and can be used for multiple purposes.

7.

Bunnies being my favorite animal, I naturally fell immediately in love with these pajama pants (plus they were black and white!) These would make a great holiday present, and I love them because they aren't your typical Christmas-y PJ's.

8.

The embroidery detailing on this shirt makes it a little more special and unique, and a great gift for the holidays. Pairing it with an oversized cardigan and a pair of boots makes this a great casual top to wear for get togethers during the holidays.

9.

This is a fresh a girly scent, without being too over the top and floral. A nice perfume makes a great and thoughtful present for a sister or friend.

10.

Another warm and comfortable pullover sweater from Target, which is an inexpensive and stylish gift to give. I love the color blocking detail and colors in this piece.

11.

Statement necklace's make great gifts, and dress up any outfit for the holiday season. I love the jewel tone colors and shape of this piece from Francesca's. Francesca's has amazing statement pieces in a variety of styles and colors for relatively inexpensive prices.

12.

I have been eyeing this bracelet for awhile now because it is simple and classic, and I love the gold detailing. This is a piece that you could wear every day and can use as a staple in your wardrobe. This would make a great gift for a close friend or family member who appreciates classic items.

This is my personal holiday wish list, and I would be more than thankful to receive anything on here. I am looking forward to giving gifts to my friends and family, and spending time catching up on holiday movies while drinking tea this season.

Until next time, have a Happy Thanksgiving!

I Don't Know About You, But I'm Feeling Black and Blue

Here is a quick and casual look that I wore due to the fact that it was raining out. I am guilty when I say I plan my outfits out based on wearing rain boots.

I love mixing and matching patterns, and I am a sucker for basic black and white stripes.

T Shirt: Old Navy

I paired it with this cobalt blue and black patterned scarf and olive green surplus jacket.

Scarf: Stein Mart
Jacket: American Eagle

My favorite part of this ensemble are these kick-butt rainboots. I absolutely love the studs and rugged look of the panels on the front. It adds a touch of edge to any outfit, and the best part is that they're durable, rain resistant, rubber boots!

Boots: BCBG Maxazaria

I paired the outfit with some simple black chevron style bracelets.

Bracelets: Target

I hope you all are staying warm and dry out there.
Until next time,

Punching (Purple) In a Dream

Passive Me, Aggressive You by the Naked and Famous is my blog writing soundtrack of the moment. Punching In a Dream is currently the song that is playing, and I absolutely love it.

This past weekend I went home to hangout with my family and spend time with my Grandma, and this outfit is what I wore to go out to lunch with her and my mom, which was featured on my Instagram.

I wore a black and white polka dotted short sleeve blouse with a black peter pan collar under a purple v-neck sweater. I love layering collared shirts under sweaters to make them appropriate for cold weather, plus I adore polka dots!

Blouse: Target
Sweater: Old Navy

I decided to wear dark wash skinny jeans, and a light beige grey hobo bag with metallic silvery grey flats and some rhinestone vintage jewelry to go with the retro style of the blouse.

Bag: Kate Spade

Jewelry: Vintage

Shoes: Target

Layering with sweaters is an easy way to transition spring and summer tops into staples in your winter wardrobe. I hope you all had a great weekend. I know I spent lots of time catching up on work as well as spending time with family.

Enjoy, and best.

Happy Girls are the Prettiest Girls

It is so easy to let others rule how you feel. Everyday we wake up and are judged, as well continuously judge others. Conscious of it or not, that is our human instinct. It is a defense mechanism in many ways; if we want to feel better about ourselves we should try and make something harder for someone else.

I continuously follow the philosophy that you shouldn't let others get in the way of what makes you happy. I think that it is easy to sit back and take the brute, and just expect things will be okay. In actuality, saying something is okay is just being fearful. If you aren't happy, it is not okay. Life is too short to pretend that things are okay.

I am writing this as a reflection because I have spent too much of my life wanting. Most of what I want is based upon what I think others want, and what I believe is expected of myself in the eyes of others. It wasn't until recently that I asked myself, "Why should I let someone else's opinion control my own happiness?" Everyone is going to have an opinion, someone is going to find something that they hate in what you do. You don't have to perpetuate it, that's not what happiness is.

In short, be selfish. Love things for yourself. Don't let others define the person you are or who you want to be. So often we feel that we must appease others or do certain things for attention. But what for? Is it earth shattering? Is it moving mountains? Take the risk to do what you love, even if it isn't the easy way it is going to provide you with the most satisfaction in the end. That's where true beauty, love, and happiness lie.

With love,

Feeling Abstract

Mondays are always a struggle to wake up for. We have been lucky that is hasn't snowed yet in Cleveland, but there are reports for some flakes for tomorrow (I do not handle cold well). I somehow made it out of my cozy bed, and decided to get dressed.

I decided to wear this neutral fall outfit. Black and white has been my go to for the season, and I paired this shirt with a neutral olive green chino pant and a black skinny belt.

Pants: GAP
Belt: JCrew

I love the abstract doodle detailing on this shirt, which adds a little bit of quirk compared to your average chiffon blouse. This black outlined design reminded me of the work of 1980's New York City graffiti artist, Keith Haring.

Shirt: Forever 21
You can get it here!

I wore some black leather lace up oxfords to complete the outfit.

Shoes: Bakers

This is a simple outfit that is comfortable to wear, while remaining stylish. I hope you all have a great week, and stay warm! Feel free to now follow me on Instagram!

Best,

Smart Casual in Chambray

It has been one of those hectic weeks where everything seems to be happening all at once. It usually gets that way at this time during the semester, which I like to call "the second round of midterms." Luckily, the weather has been absolutely beautiful for the beginning of November, allowing me to wear dresses and skirts without freezing my butt off.

My love for chambray shirts goes way back. Chambray is a light, denim-like material- I love the fabric because it is cotton and the color can be worn with almost anything. In this case, I chose a light khaki pencil skirt to pair the shirt with. The polka dot accent on the button down also adds a unique and playful quality.

Shirt: Marshalls
Skirt: Target

For texture, I paired this shirt with a beaded flower statement necklace inspired by the ones from J Crew. I love pairing button downs with statement pieces because it adds interest and substance to the outfit. It makes takes something ordinary, and makes it more special.

Necklace: Stein Mart

Loafers: Urban Outfitters

This is a smart casual- neat, yet informal- look for fall.

Best,
