Black, White & Red Flowers

I apologize that it has been a little while since I have posted. I have been busy with midterms and other school nonsense since I have been back from break. There have been a lot of exciting things happening lately such as getting into honors societies, and having internship interviews. Hopefully these all lead to more exciting opportunities!

I recently purchased this black and white striped dress from Banana Republic. I first saw this dress online in January, and it was on sale when I came home for Spring break. I love the directional contrast of the stripes, and I can wear this dress often for formal chapter meetings for my sorority or for work.

Banana Republic has recently become one of my favorite stores because you can find great quality items, and they have really good sales. I love how flattering this dress is, and I hope to find more pieces like it in the future.

I paired it with my sunglasses which are from Target's Peter Pilotto collection. The graphic black and white pattern will be a great accessory for my summer wardrobe.

I have been eyeing statement flower necklaces ever since JCrew came out with their collection. This statement necklace was a fraction of the cost from Target. It is still a well made item, even though it is significantly lower in price, and the red adds a great pop of color to any outfit.

I hope you all have a good rest of the week (I know I have been keeping busy!)  I am looking forward to posting more soon, and excited for some warmer weather.

Best,

Kelly Green & Leopard

I hope you all are having a good week!

When it comes to spring fashion, I love wearing skirts. It is difficult to find something that is both fun in color and pattern, but also versatile to wear for many different occasions.

I recently purchased the kelly green and black leopard print skirt from Banana Republic, which I think will be a great addition for my spring wardrobe. It is difficult for me to find skirts that fit correctly (long enough, but small enough in the waist) and Banana Republic is great about having well-tailored pieces. In addition, this skirt is easy to dress up for work, or down for going out with friends.

I stacked two of my pave gold bracelets to go with the ensemble.

Pyramid Bracelet: Aeropostale
Chain Bracelet: Ann Taylor

Bag: Michael Kors

I wore a thrifted light blue chambray button down and black tights to showcase the skirt, and provide contrast to keep the outfit simple.

I love adding bold elements to an outfit, and pieces with a fun pattern can really enhance your wardrobe. What trends are you looking forward to for spring weather?

Best,

Ultra Violet

We are finally interrupted from the snow with some sunshine! I enjoyed my Spring Break as well as St. Patrick's day, and I am back to school until Easter time.

It is nice to be able to put on a dress every once in awhile.

This dress is from Nordstrom, and it is a pretty violet color with a beige houndstooth pattern "splotched" on top.

The fabric is a light chiffon that is light and breezy for Spring. The back has a cut out detailing which I also love.

Boots: Old Navy

I paired the dress with gold accessories to pick up the color on the dress. This pave acorn necklace is from Madewell.

I am dreaming of warm weather, and this outfit reminds me of going to music festivals during the spring and summer months (I wish I could go to Coachella). What are you looking forward to wearing for this season?

Best,

Cabin Fever in Spring Sweaters

Lavender is probably one of my favorite colors. It reminds me of spring, but I think you can wear it year round. I am transitioning this sweater into my spring wardrobe for those cozy colder days.

Sweater: H&M

 Boots: Old Navy

Leggings: Calvin Klein

Earrings: Vintage

Necklace: Nordstrom Rack

We have had 50 degree days, followed by crazy snow storms. I am already looking forward to summer and being able to enjoy the sunshine.

Stay cozy!

Spring Ahead in Tweed

I have been at home filling my Spring break with watching all the Academy Award winning movies, and reading articles on the Malaysian airplane disappearance. Yesterday we had some warmer weather and I got out of the house and went to lunch and did a little shopping.

I got this tweed jacket on the clearance rack at TJ Maxx for $10 bucks. It was originally $169 dollars by Lucky Brand. This jacket is great because it can easily dress up jeans for a nice casual look, but also can be worn for a work environment. I wore a casual white oxford button down from American Eagle underneath.

Navy Patent Flats: American Eagle

Pyramid Bracelet: Aeropostale
Purse: Rebecca Minkoff MAC bag

I have been inspired by Chanel tweed suits, and this jacket makes me wish I was in Paris for Spring break. I hope you all are having a great start to the week, and keeping warm for the beginning of Spring!

Best of the 2014 Oscar Awards Fashion

Usually it is easier for me to choose my red carpet favorite dresses, but for the 2014 Oscars there were too many stunning gowns that I had trouble narrowing it down. Here is a list of some of my favorite Red Carpet looks from this past Sunday, and a few that I felt missed the mark.

Kate Hudson looked beautiful in this Atelier Versace gown which was very reminiscent of "old Hollywood."

Lupita Nyong'o is no stranger to wearing colorful dresses on the red carpet. She looked like a true star accepting her best supporting actress Oscar for 12 Years a Slave in this light blue gown by Prada.

Charlize Theron is one of my favorite red carpet actresses, and I love this black Dior gown on her.

Cate Blanchett looked stunning in this Armani gown when she accepted her win for Best Actress in Blue Jasmine.

I really loved the simplicity and styling of this Calvin Klein Collection dress on Naomi Watts. She looked beautiful and fresh, and the "spider web" statement necklace really pulled it together.

Amy Adams looked amazing in this navy blue dress by Gucci. This classic and sophisticated look was beautifully represented by an Oscar nominee. Her beautiful Tiffany's earrings added a little flare of color to balance the dark hue of the dress.

Lastly, Olivia Wilde could not look better in this simple, black Valentino gown. She looks stunning for being pregnant, and truly glowed on the red carpet.

There were a few looks that I felt missed the mark on the red carpet. I was not a big fan of this Givenchy dress on Julia Roberts. The lace detailing over the chest and the peplum are overwhelming and look drab compared to some of her previous looks.

Anna Kendrick's dress by J. Mandel is also overwhelming to me. Between all the see-through cut outs and detailing, and her exposed leg, it is hard to focus the eye on the whole dress. Overall I find this dress too busy, and it doesn't do her justice. I do love her clutch though.

She did look fabulous at the Vanity Fair party afterwards in this beautiful dress by Atelier Versace.

I hope you all enjoyed watching the Oscar Awards, and enjoyed the fashion just as much!

Until next time,

Neutral Outdoor Winter Wear

Even though it is the beginning of March, we are supposed to get hit with some severe snow storms.
I have incorporated some of my spring pieces with my winter wardrobe to prepare for the weather.

My green surplus jacket is from Target. The neutral army green goes with a variety of pieces, and the inside is lined with a plaid flannel and fur detail around the collar of the hood. It is a great transition piece between seasons.

This light blue chambray button down with silver detailing around the collar is from Hollister Co.

Brown Boots: Old Navy

Black Jeans: Seven for All Mankind from TJ Maxx

Head Band: H&M

This headband has silver sequins interspersed and when they catch the light, it looks like snow has fallen on it.

I hope you are all staying warm in this weather. My spring break starts this Friday, and I am sad to say  I won't be heading anywhere that I can sit by a beach and soak up the sun.

Look forward to a post soon from my favorite looks from the Oscars!
Until next time,
