Thursday Twinning With My Roommate

Between the snow days, my roommate Mimi and I went shopping at our local mall and both fell in love with this blue and red embellished stripe sweater from The Limited

We decided to dress it up two different ways. Mimi paired it with a navy blue blazer from H&M to keep it more classic for day time, and I wore a navy blue leather jacket from 3.1 Phillip Lim for an edgier look that would work well for night.

The best part about this sweater is the built in embellished neckline. It is a versatile top because you don't have to find a necklace to pair it with, which is perfect if you need to pack light for taking a daytime look to night.

Another great perk to this sweater is that it is currently on sale! You can take an extra 50% off the current sale price by clicking here

We both finished our looks off with simple jewelry. Mimi wore a pave bow ring and silver watch, and I wore this Kiel James Patrick anchor bracelet in navy and white, stacked with a simple pearl bracelet.

Brown boots add a finishing touch.

Lastly, our monogram mugs. Mimi's "M" is Kate Spade, and my "C" is from Anthropologie.

(I have to admit that we don't usually match, but when we do, we go all out).

Christmas card anyone?

Valentine's Day: Wearing Houndstooth and Polka Dot Denim

Whether you are single or taken, Valentine's Day is an excuse to dress up, eat chocolate and get spoiled with flowers.

Inspired by the romance and whimsy of Valentine's Day, I wore a feminine outfit that I layered with patterns and subtle sparkly details.

This houndstooth coat is from Express, and it is a classic piece to dress up any outfit to make it special. I am also a big fan of the hot pink lining; perfect for Valentine's Day.

I wore my gold button up chiffon blouse from Juicy Couture. The gold buttons add a special touch that dresses up a look.

To tie in the gold detailing, I wore this elaborate statement necklace from Target. The subtle pink in the jewels adds a girly touch while remaining chic.

These polka dot jeans are also from Target and add another subtle detail of pattern that make the outfit less casual.

My gold watch and bow ring are from Kate Spade, and my heart ring was a gift. The kissing zebras bracelet is from The Limited, and fits with the whimsical details of the outfit.

Rolled denim looks great with these booties that are from Pac Sun.

12 Must-Haves for Spring

The thought of a new season inspires me to do some shopping. I am trying to hold off on making any purchases until it heats up outside, but here are some items on my Spring wish list for when the weather gets warmer!

12. Lilly Pulitzer Pearl Necklace

What are some of your spring must haves?

Cable Knits & Button Downs

When in doubt, rely on the classics. I like the look of a button down underneath a sweater, and when it is snowing I am okay with any excuse to layer my outfit.

This navy blue cable knit sweater is from Tommy Hilfiger. A plain cable knit is a closet staple, and can be dressed so many different ways that it is worth the investment.

My magenta striped button up is from C. Wonder, and I absolutely love the patterned detail underneath the collar and sleeve cuffs. I am happy I snagged this unique top when I did because C. Wonder is now going out of business (I am pretty devastated). I paired the top with a simple pearl necklace.

This chain link bracelet is from Ann Taylor, and it instantly adds a bit of sparkle to any look.

And if it is snowing, I have to wear my Hunter Boots.
