College Girl's Back to School Shopping Guide - Featuring UChic's Gracie Case

I absolutely love back to school shopping. However, there are so many cute items out there that it is hard to choose which items will actually be helpful in staying organized all year. Here are some of my must-haves for shopping when heading back to college.

The Perfect Planner

It is difficult to stay organized between homework, extra curricular activities and social events and having an agenda in college is one of the best purchases I have ever made.

Cute Cary-All

I love the classic style of Herschel backpacks and their durability. Plus, how cute are these polk-a-dots?

Protecting in Style

By purchasing the Gracie laptop case you help provide scholarships for women to pursue their dreams. I love mine because it has pockets inside for other miscellaneous items, plus the pattern is super cute!

It's Okay to Make Mistakes

White out tape is my best friend. If you make a mistake, it is easy to correct with this product. It also is a lot less messy than regular white out and very easy to use.

Be Seen

My other BFF is the highlighter. They are super convenient for organization and note taking, and having multiple colors makes your subjects easy to keep track of.

Stay Hydrated

I used a water bottle a lot in college, and by always having it you are guaranteed to drink more water and stay hydrated throughout the day. This water bottle is glass with a silicon grip, making reusable and eco friendly.

Stay Inspired

School can become restless, so buy a notebook that will help inspire and motivate you throughout the day. There are many with inspirational quotes that add a bit of positivity to your studying.

Be Sharp

Nothing is more annoying than having to sharpen your pencil. Go for mechanical pencils and make sure to have back ups!

Start Off On the Right Foot

Beginning school with a cute new pair of shoes for walking around campus will have you feeling confident and ready to take on the year. I love these Vans because they're stylish and comfortable.

What are some of your back to school must haves?

Colorado Wrap Up: 10 Best Places to Go

I was in Denver and the surround Colorado area for 3 weeks of training at my new job with Up with People. During my time I got to experience a lot of what Denver has to offer.

Besides Target and Whole Foods at every corner (aka heaven), Denver has a lot of unique restaurants, boutiques, breweries, and other attractions that will appeal to anyone's interests. I personally became inspired by the mountain culture to purchase Patagonia dresses and Tevas. As you read on, you will see that this is primarily a food based list, but what is a good city without good food?

Even though I am in southern Georgia right now (home of biscuits and gravy) the Denver Biscuit Company has some of the best biscuit sandwiches ever

I got a biscuit with fried chicken, gravy, bacon and cheddar (it should be called the artery clogger) but it was amazing! The other reason why I love this place is because you can serve yourself coffee while you are waiting to be seated.

Even though the wait is long, the food comes pretty quickly once you order. I highly suggest coming for brunch if you come to the Denver area. I have had some authentic southern food being in Statesboro, and these biscuits come pretty close to the real deal.

Sweet Cow has some of the best ice cream I have ever had. You can tell that it is good because there is always a line going out the door. If you ever had Trader Joe’s Cookie Butter, Sweet Cow makes a cookie butter ice-cream that is just amazing. They also have their very own ice-cream truck.

I am not a vegan, but Native foods has really good vegan food that is even meat-eater approved. I tried their ranch “chicken” sandwich and it was delicious. All of their food is completely vegan, and healthy, even though it doesn’t taste like it. They also have a variety of flavored iced tea and lemonades.

The vegan bacon cheeseburger tasted nothing like a cheeseburger, but it was still good.

If you like Chipotle (or even if you don’t) you have to check out Pizzeria Locale. Their pizza is made fresh, right in front of you, and you get to watch it cook in under 15 minutes.

This restaurant is the pizza spin-off created by the same owners as Chipotle. It is equally delicious.

After a stressful day at work, the Denver Cat Company is a great place to relax. What is better than drinking coffee, and having kittens come up to you? The cafe allows you to play with kittens that roam freely while you sit and enjoy your drink, and they even have a program that lets customers adopt.

Colorado is not complete without a trip to the mountains and I was lucky enough to go to a few different mountain towns. When being in high altitude it is important to drink tons of water. On one of my visits into the mountains I got very sick from dehydration. Always hydrate, and bring snacks!

One of my favorite places we visited is Breckenridge. If you like beer, you might be familiar with Breckenridge brewery. They have breweries around the Denver area, but the original is in the town of Breckenridge where you can get really delicious bar food and try a bunch of craft beers. I got the grapefruit saison and it was delicious. The best part about this trip was getting to spend it with a bunch of international people and loudly playing “20 questions” over lunch.

After eating, you can walk around and see all of the cute boutiques and skiing and hiking specialty stores. The town is very quaint and great for a relaxing day of walking around. If you enjoy going to bigger stores, you can also go to the Silverthorne outlets which are super close by, and have a bunch
of great deals.

If you are looking for a hike, I would recommend going to Chautauqua Park in Boulder and climbing the first-second Flatiron trail.

It is about a mile hike, so it isn’t too bad for beginners (like myself) but you definitely feel the burn on your legs. However, it is totally worth the view at the top.

A place that may be better than Denver is Boulder. I absolutely love Boulder for all of the health food stores, trendy restaurants and boutiques, and beautiful mountain views.

One of my favorite breakfast places we went to was Snooze in Boulder, where you can try all different flavors of eggs Benedict. I got one with loxs, and one with tortillas and barbocoa. So tasty! Plus, how great is this hash brown presentation?

One of the coolest things I got to do was go to my first Major League Soccer game at Dick's Sporting Goods park to see the Colorado Rapids play. We went on the 4th of July, and at the end of the game you get to sit on the field and watch the biggest fire work show in Colorado.

We all styled our matching tie dye Old Navy tee's differently as you can see ;) It was so fun going with such a big group of people from all different countries.

I had such a great three weeks, and I can't wait to go back in January.

What are some of your places in the Denver area? Let me know in the comments below!

Black and White Polka Dots

Happy Tuesday! It is my last week in Denver before I leave for Statesboro, Georgia.

A few weeks ago I wore this long black and white polka dot skirt for an art exhibit opening at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Cleveland.

I love maxi skirts, and this polka-dot vintage skirt is easy to dress up for summer nights.

I paired it with a simple cropped black tank top.

To add a pop of color, I wore this robins egg blue cross-body purse from Francesca's Collections. The black detail in the zipper matches well with the black in the outfit.

These black leather wedges from Marshall's are extremely comfortable, and the chunky heel adds height to contrast with the long skirt.

I kept my accessories simple by wearing my evil eye bracelet from Urban Outfitters, which was a graduation from one of my best friends :)

This outfit was very comfortable for the art gallery opening, and we saw lots of interesting pieces from collections called How to Remain Human and Tony Lewis: Free Nomenclature Pressure Weight Movement Power.

I love trying new things, and going to an art gallery opening is now something I can check off my bucket list.

I have had many new experiences in Denver, like my first Pride Fest, and first hike in the mountains. We celebrated the 4th of July by going to my first major league soccer game, which I shared with people from Mexico, China, Denmark, and Belgium who are celebrating their first Independence Day in the states. This summer has been filled with lots of new things and I can't wait to have many more new adventures.

Until next time,

Belated Niagra Falls Adventure

Happy Wednesday, and Happy Canada Day!

Before I left for Denver, Mike and I took an impromptu trip to Ontario, Canada to see Niagra Falls.  We both love traveling and trying new things, and this trip was a perfect mini adventure before beginning my new job.

We drove the 4 hours from Cleveland, and arrived in the early afternoon to Niagra Falls. We spent most of the day walking all around the falls park, which on one side of the street is a beautiful waterfall and greenery, and the other side is filled with hotels and casinos. It is a pretty funny juxtaposition, which is filled with 100's of tourists with selfie sticks.

The weather was amazing, which made for some beautiful pictures.

We got a lot of amazing double rainbow views :)

I ended up wearing this periwinkle floral dress which I bought in Brooklyn at the "Artist in Fleas" flea market. I love finding unique pieces, which is why flea markets and thrift stores are so great.

It was extremely comfortable for hot day with lots of walking.

I wore these light tan Birkenstock style sandals, which I learned are incredibly uncomfortable for a day of walking when you haven't broken them in.

I picked up the coral color in my dress by wearing this Marc Jacobs rose gold watch.

My Ray Ban wayfarer sunglasses have become a necessity for summer.

I also wore my favorite cross body bag from Francesca's Collection.

We also went on a Niagra Falls cruise, which was awesome! It takes you in-between the falls and you get to feel the mist, which was great because it was very hot out. Plus this red poncho was pretty fashionable ;)

The best part of any vacation is when we celebrated with some local Canadian beers.

If you haven't been to Niagra Falls, I highly suggest it. I love Canada, and am celebrating Canada Day in Denver by eating poutine and watching Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown: Quebec.

What are some of your summer vacation plans?

Until next time,
